Gtk/Gnome text editors typically use a common library component called [http://projects.gnome.org/gtksourceview/ GtkSourceView] which means that adding Cobra language support for it enhances multiple applications. If you are specifically using [http://www.gnome.org/projects/gedit/ gedit], they have a [http://live.gnome.org/Gedit/NewLanguage NewLanguage] wiki page with instructions. Also, note that gedit is available for Windows, Mac and Linux.

You can drop a new language file in '''(root)/share/gtksourceview-2.0/language-specs''' where '''(root)''' is one of:
 * ~/.local
 * /opt
 * /usr/local
 * /usr
