In November 2006, I searched Google for "cobra programming language". Here is what I found:
- The #1 hit is for an "EGR Cobra Programming Language" from Eastern Graphics.
- 5 of the top 10 hits are for this Cobra Programming language whose site you are at now.
- 2 of the top 10 hits are for the Cobra language from SqueakyDuck/Idigicon, which has not been released yet.
- 2 of the top 10 hits are for CORBA spelled incorrectly.
So there are 3 Cobra programming languages, but I intend to keep using the name. With multiple releases throughout 2006 and 5 of the top 10 Google hits, I feel justified. Plus, I've gotten rather attached to the name as I've been using it internally for years prior to the first release in February 2006.
And here are some Cobras not related to programming:
- Cobra Electronics - http://www.cobra.com/
- Cobra Golf, Inc. - http://www.cobragolf.com/
- Cobra USA (motorcycles) - http://www.cobrausa.com/
- Cobra Kayaks - http://www.cobrakayaks.com/
Cobra Language LLC is not associated with any of the above companies.
The full title of our product is "The Cobra Programming Language".
