Bzr branch

Postby Necoro » Fri Apr 10, 2009 2:35 pm

Just a quick note for everyone who is interested. As SVN might be a useful VCS, it is not suited for being used if you want to do your personal changes. Thus I added the project to launchpad and added the svn trunk to the bzr-import service. So now you can use the bzr branch :)

URL to bzr branch: https://code.launchpad.net/~vcs-imports/cobra/trunk
URL to project: https://launchpad.net/cobra

And if you do not know yet, what bzr (bazaar) is: Have a look here: http://www.bazaar-vcs.org

Note that changes to SVN need some time to be reflected in the branch, because it is only updated at discrete points. And also note that (of course) changes to the bzr branch are not reflected in the svn repos.

If someone has diffs in bzr, will they be able to send a patch that I can apply in my svn workspace? Currently, I do this with the ordinary unix patch command, so it may be possible.

What are pros and cons of bzr vs. Mercurial?

Thanks,
Chuck

They are normal unified diff, so they can be applied normally. I don't want to start the normal "VCS"-flamewar. I just use bzr, because they use normal revision numbers instead of SHA-hashes. But hg is faster :). Both are way user-friendlier than git :)

Obvious ... trac is not a VCS - but only a WebFrontend (there is a trac-plugin for bzr too, if I'm not mistaken)
