Installing Cobra.

Postby mydiax » Fri Oct 16, 2015 11:31 pm

I've completed the install, but is wondering what the directions mean here:
Code: Select all
On Windows, put a "cobra.cmd" somewhere in your PATH such as a C:\bin directory.
The contents should at least be:
@"C:\Cobra\Cobra-0.9.6\bin\cobra.exe" %*

I have Community Visual Studio 2015.

I just don't know how to make the .exe, I'm afraid I'm a bit inexperienced in programming. But I'd like to at least try Cobra and get the feel you know?

I'll gladly take a helping hand, and will try to help others during my time learning Cobra.

The idea is to have some kind of program / script in your PATH that starts the cobra compiler. This is so that when you use 'cobra my_source_file.cobra' in the terminal window it is able to find the 'cobra' command and give your instructions to the compiler.

If you've completed the install (I assume by running 'install_from_workspace'), there should be a compiler executable in the location pointed to by the path you've quoted. So create a file called 'cobra.cmd' containing the line you've quoted, and place it in one of the directories in your PATH.
