What is your opinion on version numbers?

Also if you want to get more people in project you should try to advertize new version on some sites, like osnews.com and other IT resources.
I really think hat you need to try to get Cobra language as on of default language in SharpDevelop. More people will see it, and more people would like to try it.

Also you may try to add ScrewTurn Wiki instead of present wiki. It may help more people to add articles\docs about this language

When I say "A or B" and you say "Why not?" I have no idea which you prefer. Maybe you mean "Why not continue with 2010-MM-DD?" or maybe you mean "Why not use 0.9?"

I do in fact announce the releases at various sites although I hadn't done osnews.com before. I'll give it consideration on the next release.

I would like to see Cobra plug-ins for Visual Studio, SharpDevelop and MonoDevelop. But those will have to come from community members as I am busy on the language.

Why do you believe that the ScrewTurn wiki will yield more contributions than the Trac wiki?

Just to be clear, I didn't mean "Is it time for 0.9?" I meant more along the lines of, "Which format do people prefer?". I realize now my original message wasn't very clear.

I like the date format personally. However, if you choose to go that route, make sure the version info displayed by the cobra compiler matches the date format.

The only value in version numbers is that you can denote minor vs significant changes by the version.

Either format is fine with me. One advantage with version numbers is that when you reach 1.0 more people might take notice. Or not.

plz do not use date-type version numeration. I do not know any language that use such numerations
xx.yy is much better
xx - major version
yy - minor version

I prefer regular version numbers (0.9). I think many people see 1.0 as an important psychological number, and who knows maybe it inspires confidence. That's not to say just jump to 1.0 btw .

Thanks for the discussion. All things considered, I have decided to return the x.y.z format such as 0.9.

Another factor in favor of this is that it allows for having two series, like 1.0.x and 1.1.x.
